Retro nixie clock made of glass and concrete
Being constantly reminded of the time can be stressful. That’s why some people opt not to display clocks in their homes. A nixie clock is a good alternative because it present an opportunity for people to interact with nixie clock without realizing right away what time is it. Let us take a look at this prototype nixie clock design from Daniel Kurt (kurth.lu), which does not only makes telling time fun. This nixie clock also makes use of unique materials–6 vintage Nixie tubes enclosed in a rough concrete body. The use of the orange shiny tubes was inspired bythe vintage Z560M Nixie tubes, used in former East-Germany.

Unlike other clocks that make use of Nixie tubes, this nixie clock does not read like a traditional display. A short focus will however allow you to use it as a ‘normal’ clock. The time in the picture reads 10:23:54.

This nixie clock can be wall mounted as well. Learn more about this nixie clock prototype by checking out the movies on the Nixie Concrete website.
